Project Background
In 2019, Jostens, a leading provider of personalized memorabilia, sought to revamp their Amazon-based eCommerce sites. The objective was to enhance customization capabilities, ensure PCI compliance, improve site management, add new products, and integrate with fulfillment systems. The project involved transitioning from a previous platform to Shopify, a move aimed at scaling the business effectively.
Challenges and Approach
Faced with a stringent deadline, Valtira efficiently converted these sites to Shopify, achieving a page-for-page conversion and launching before the peak seasonal period. This transition involved integrating Shopify with back-end Oracle systems and enhancing the product user experience, which resulted in increased revenue year over year.
Next Level eCommerce
Building on this success, Jostens needed to deploy a new eCommerce site for an additional business line, catering to over 100,000 organizations in the US and Canada. This expansion required a solution that supported various customization options, including custom graphics, embroidery, and screen printing, and leveraged a large field sales team.
My Role in the Project
As the project lead, I was responsible for ensuring that the client's business goals were seamlessly integrated with the development team's priorities. My key contributions included:
Designing a customizable branded Shopify experience tailored for individual teams, which could be adapted by Jostens' sales representatives.
Leading the design of custom middleware, simplifying the process for the sales team to create sites and custom products efficiently.
Overseeing the project from conception to delivery, aligning technical solutions with Jostens' business objectives and ensuring a scalable, efficient, and high-performing eCommerce system.
This comprehensive approach by Valtira, combined with my strategic and creative direction, resulted in an eCommerce system that not only met Jostens' current needs but also positioned them for future growth and adaptation to new market demands.
